Sarah graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in April 2014 and has been working in Victoria for the past 7 years. She is excited to be relocating to the Comox Valley where she grew up. Prior to her massage therapy education she spent four years in New Brunswick, at Mount Allison University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Sociology and a minor in English. What she enjoys most about massage therapy is the wide spectrum of people she gets to meet and conditions she gets to treat. She understands the importance of treating each new client as a whole person and she loves the challenge of uncovering the root of dysfunction or pain, rather than simply treating symptomatically. In her treatments she uses a combination of fascia work, muscle energy technique, trigger point therapy and passive and active movement in order to reduce pain, increase function and increase overall well-being. She is well versed in a multitude of musculoskeletal and systemic conditions; however, she is particularly interested in treating chronic neck and low-back pain, tension headaches and stress and anxiety and TMJ dysfunction. In her spare time Sarah enjoys running, mountain biking, outrigger canoeing, and reading.

Rachel graduated from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy in 2021, and completed registration in BC in 2022. Prior to entering the field of massage therapy she worked in an environmental testing laboratory and was drawn to massage therapy after suffering a whiplash injury in 2015. The level of care provided to her by her RMTs during the rehab process left a lasting impression and convinced her to change careers. Rachel loves that this career allows her to combine her life long interest in health and wellness with the ability to positively impact others.

She aims to create a caring and welcoming space for all individuals and collaborates with patients to create a treatment plan that works for them. Her treatments start with a basis of relaxation to calm the nervous system and incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques to address your areas of concern.

When not in the clinic Rachel enjoys hitting the gym, going for a hike and spending time with her husband, friends and family.

Hello! I am Mary, a Registered Massage Therapist excited to be a part of Arbutus Massage Therapy.

I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria in 2010 and since then I have practiced in both clinic and spa settings in BC and Ontario. Most recently, I practiced at Reach Health in Sidney, BC for the past 7.5 years. Prior to becoming an RMT, I earned a BA in Kinesiology spending my summers and a few years after tree planting and travelling. I am happy to be settling in the beautiful Comox Valley, keen to explore the outdoors and become part of the community.

My treatments are attentive and I enjoy providing a relaxing environment while working with you to achieve your therapeutic goals. I welcome folks seeking relief from persistent pain, support during injury recovery and relaxation to experience what massage therapy has to offer. I offer patient centered care by building a therapeutic relationship with each person, fostering a sense of resilience and tailoring the treatment and homecare to your specific concerns. I use a variety of techniques to help achieve therapeutic goals including deep tissue, general Swedish, range of motion, stretching and fascial techniques. Some folks respond well to firm pressure and some do better with a lighter touch - I am happy to provide either (or both within the same treatment). We will find what works best for you!

I respectfully acknowledge that I practice massage therapy on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation and the traditional keepers of their land.
