Please take note of which location you are booking your appointment for: Chelsea is in Comox at our Beaufort Centre clinic on Thursdays.

As a Registered Massage Therapist since 2015, Chelsea’s approach is attentive and sensitive to each client’s particular needs. With a trauma-informed and evidence-based practice, she has developed a special interest in the meeting place of persistent pain conditions, trauma, mental health and physical wellbeing in addition to perinatal and child/infant massage. Emphasis is placed on the creation of a safe space that is inclusive and welcoming. Chelsea believes that safe healing touch has a powerful role to play in our lives and she is continually thrilled and awed with the ability of the human body to adapt, to strengthen, and to heal. Chelsea has found that treatment need not be painful to be effective and longer lasting results often come when promoting and enhancing the body’s natural healing inclination. This is often achieved through a subtle approach with the goal of decreased pain and stress and an improvement in overall wellbeing. Treatments are customized to the individual. Clients’ needs are addressed through a variety of techniques intended to achieve long-term health – whether that means relief from pain, rehabilitation after an injury or surgery, or assisting lifestyle and exercise goals. You will also be provided with a relevant homecare routine in the form of strengthening, stretching and/or habitual changes to facilitate your road to health. Chelsea encourages her clients to play an active role in this process, and will regularly refer to other modalities to be used in concert with massage therapy, believing that the most effective therapy is a team effort. Sarah graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in April 2014 and has been working in Victoria for the past 7 years. She is excited to be relocating to the Comox Valley where she grew up. Prior to her massage therapy education she spent four years in New Brunswick, at Mount Allison University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Sociology and a minor in English. What she enjoys most about massage therapy is the wide spectrum of people she gets to meet and conditions she gets to treat. She understands the importance of treating each new client as a whole person and she loves the challenge of uncovering the root of dysfunction or pain, rather than simply treating symptomatically. In her treatments she uses a combination of fascia work, muscle energy technique, trigger point therapy and passive and active movement in order to reduce pain, increase function and increase overall well-being. She is well versed in a multitude of musculoskeletal and systemic conditions; however, she is particularly interested in treating chronic neck and low-back pain, tension headaches and stress and anxiety and TMJ dysfunction. In her spare time Sarah enjoys running, mountain biking, outrigger canoeing, and reading.

Prior to entering the field of massage therapy she worked in an environmental testing laboratory and was drawn to massage therapy after suffering a whiplash injury in 2015. The level of care provided to her by her RMTs during the rehab process left a lasting impression and convinced her to change careers. Rachel loves that this career allows her to combine her life long interest in health and wellness with the ability to positively impact others.

She aims to create a caring and welcoming space for all individuals and collaborates with patients to create a treatment plan that works for them.
